First national stakeholders meeting for ELIXIR-LU
July 08, 2018

On June 13, the ELIXIR-LU team invited several Luxembourgish stakeholders to a first meeting to introduce ELIXIR, the European infrastructure for life science information, and the national Node ELIXIR-LU, present recent activities and developments of ELIXIR-LU and discuss data challenges in the biomedical field.

Eighteen participants attended the meeting, representing fifteen institutions in Luxembourg with current or future interest in human and/or biomedical data sharing and re-use for scientific research. The group consisted of members of ministries, biomedical research institutes, national laboratories and repositories, hospital and patient associations. This first half-day meeting was primarily for information purposes but turned out to be highly interactive. The presentations sparked discussions about how to shape ELIXIR-LU’s portfolio to suit Luxembourgish interests, as well as talks regarding training needs and synergies in Luxembourg’s biomedical landscape. These first exchanges and those to come will help build and develop a national platform for translational data in Luxembourg.
