IMI2: FAIRPlus grant awarded

ELIXIR-LU is a partner in the FAIRplus consortium, coordinated by the ELIXIR Hub, which will support EFPIA companies (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations) and specific IMI projects in making their data FAIR: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable.

The proposal was submitted to the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI2) in response to the IMI2 FAIRification call topic. The project will receive a 4.2 Mio € grant and was officially launched on 1st January 2019. There will be a kick-off meeting in Hinxton on January 21-22.

The FAIRplus consortium includes 22 partners from academia, SMEs and industry. It is headed by Serena Scollen of the ELIXIR Hub at EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute, along with Herman Van Vlijmen of Janssen. The following ELIXIR Nodes are involved as partners: ELIXIR Luxembourg, ELIXIR Netherlands, ELIXIR UK, ELIXIR Spain, ELIXIR Switzerland and EMBL-EBI. ELIXIR-LU will engage in the development of criteria for identification of data sources for FAIRification, development of FAIR metrics, as well as cataloguing of meta-data from translational medicine projects from both academia and industry.

To support this newly funded project, ELIXIR-LU is looking for a postdoctoral researcher in the field of clinical and translational medicine informatics. The full job description is available on the website of the University of Luxembourg.
