Disease maps
Disease maps
Disease or pathway maps are manually curated knowledge repositories established to describe molecular mechanisms of a particular disease or an aspect of physiology. Such maps are in essence focused, user-developed pathway databases. They are composed of systems biology diagrams, compatible with visual exploration and computational analysis.
Disease maps compile literature-based information into standardised, easy to explore and freely accessible diagrams, with research-facilitating functionalities such as the overlay of experimental data and the identification of drug targets on the map. Supported by the MINERVA Platform, the maps offer programmatic access and support for computational workflows.
Why
Consider developing disease or pathway maps with ELIXIR Luxembourg when:
-
your project focuses on mechanisms with limited coverage in pathway databases
-
you’re interested in tailoring omics data interpretation to your scope
-
you’re planning computational and modelling pipelines
-
you want to persist your diagrams in a FAIR-compliant repository
Our services
-
Hosting your disease or pathway maps online on the MINERVA platform
(set up and maintenance of a Virtual Machine hosting the MINERVA Platform) -
Support in development of diagrams
(set up of projects in MINERVA, content review, troubleshooting) -
Support in building plugins and computational workflows (review of developed code, assistance in REST API exploration and use of dedicated R packages)
How to start?
-
Check out the Parkinson’s Disease map or projects on Disease Maps Community website
-
Get familliar with the official MINERVA Platform manual
-
Use your ORCID ID to log in and upload your own data overlays
-
Request for an instance of the platform (creation of a dedicated server where MINERVA is deployed)
